"RATDOG and FURTHER are not the GRATEFUL DEAD!!"

Then why do they play all Grateful Dead songs with very few new ones.

If you don't want to be compared to the Grateful Dead - play other stuff or all new types of music. There is no way you can NOT compare them.

If you enjoy it or any music - Thats what it's all about. So no apology but understand that there are good reasons for people to feel otherwise because it seems like an inferior replay and a nostalgia show sometimes.

I saw the Dead and tried to have an open mind going in. Some of it was better than I expected, a lot was worse. Still had fun though because I looked at it as a night out with good friends and live music.

Ok I've gotta say that I agree with the both you and BSS on this, In that you both have valid points. My problem with the current Dead situation is that there are quite a few very talented people that have played replacement for Jerry over these past 14 years and I just wish they would commit to one guy so that something other than this one shot bullshit music could develop. I mean really guys if this isn't just for nostalgia tribute sake after 14 years then I think what we are seeing is either egos unwilling to let some other person take the leader reigns or, and I'll say this as delicate as possible, a self indulgent cash out, [conscious or unconscious] musically. There I said it, so flame on at will and please prove my negativity wrong.

i wish they would just retire already. their best days have been gone for over 30 years. they left us tons of great music to listen to for years to come, and we are all grateful for it. there will never be another grateful dead. there will never be another jerry garcia.

I don't mind that they keep going if they want to. And yes there will never be another Jerry but it just seems to me if they don't want to be considered a nostalgia act then they should at least try to grow with another guitar player for more than 1 or 2 tours so there could possibly be some kind of evolving continuity to there music again.
